Classmates review of first draft

I enjoy reading my classmates review about my essays. I had the same opportunity In comp I, the  review I received gave me a lot of good tips that I can use. My topic is on eating disorders in women specifically bulimia and anorexia. I choose this topic because many women suffer in silence with these conditions. I found a shocking article in the Kaplan library called anorexia, bulimia becoming an equal opportunity disorders by the Associated Press,  many believe that both these conditions only effect Caucasian women in upper and middle class. This didn't effect women of color because of there ethnic background  the weight was considered attractive. Over the years it was found not to be true, there was no reliable statics on eating conditions in ethnic women  and in many cases they were not properly diagnosis.  I thought this was interesting  that women were not diagnosis properly because they didn't fit the type of women that has this problem. I look forward to finding more interesting articles related to my topic.

Preparing essay

For the first three weeks of class I was tiring to decide on a health topic. I found some good resources to use but the information was pretty old I found a articles that was from back in the 90's. Then I thought I might change topics because there was no recent information. Shortly after that I found some sources that are more current from 2009 and 2010 that I can use. Recently I have been reading information on how to write a strong thesis statement and have a good introduction, the information I found in the writing center was very helpful. After writing my rough draft I see what changes need to be made by restructuring the sentence the paragraph will flow better. I also need to remove a sentence in were I repeated information on medical conditions that are developed from eating disorders. I am kind of nervous about it but I will have the wrinkles ironed out before I turn in my essay.

Writing techniques

I get frustrated sometimes when I am writing and tiring to tie the ends together to make the sentence flow well. I decide to use free writing and listing as the techniques that would help me get the most benefit when wring my rough draft. When I was writing down my thoughts on the topic of eating disorders in women. I use some of the personal experiences to help point how these problems can occur. I think it very interest how people comments can have such an effect on a person life. What I want to do is to use an idea an have one or two sources to back up  key causes, how to recognize this behavior and treatments etc. I found a lot of articles that show the results of studies that were done in women with bulimia and anorexia I am tiring to tie this in to essay so that it will be understood. In conclusion I want to point out how all of time these types of disorders are over looked because the nation are more concerned with over eating as in obesity, than not eating or binge and purging. These eating disorders can cause just as many medical problems as obesity.

Plagiarism

I have had several experiences years ago with plagiarism  and even on my current job. Year ago when I was in my 20 I was a secretary. The manager needed some ideas for a project he was use my ideas in his report and didn't give me credit for it. I didn't know what plagiarism was back then, so I didn't know that I should have reported the indecent. When I read his report the manager's name was the only one on it, he just said that's how we work as a team and nothing else was said about. After that time I never volunteered any of my ideas, I  felt like I was used.

I now work for an insurance company, I have had my current supervisor take credit for and idea that was mine. When I brought it to her attention she apologies and said she didn't mean to take credit for my idea.  She did go back and make an announcement to everyone that gave me credit for the new process that we currently use. Now that I know better I will always make sure any incident of plagiarism is addressed.
